Random blogging thoughts...

When I started this blog I thought I would origionally use it as a photo blog because I was trying to show off my photography so that I could get into photographing things. It didn't work all that well. Although I had contacted some people on craig's list for weddings, nothing ended up working out. Photography is really tough to get into. I think I like using it as a photo/craft blog. I want to come up with a creative title but I always draw a blank when I try to think of things! Any ideas? Leave me a comment!

I have been really enjoying our new house! it's fun unpacking things and putting them away in their permanant places. There wasn't a lot of room at the apartment, things were kind of piled on top of other things...

When we were in the apartment I had bought my sewing machine from a thrift store because I decided that sewing was something that I wanted to pick up! I had sewn before when I was single and lived with my parents...My mom had taught me some basics. It was hard to sew in the apartment because the cat would be all over me and my stuff when I got it out. It was also annoying having to put it all away when I was done...I love having a craft room! I can shut the door to keep the cat away, turn on my music and escape for a while. :)

I play volleyball on Tuesday nights. I enjoy getting out for a little exercise, although I don't always feel like going! Even if I have to be convinced to go I'm always glad I do.
Next project... A dress! I got the cutest pattern and fabric. Cant' wait! I hope it turns out to be wearable! :)

Sewing creations...

Here is another purse that I just finished this evening. Well, it's a hand bag really. I am very pleased with how it turned out!

A while back I got a sewing machine from a thrift store because I thought it would be a fun hobby to have! So far I have made a shirt, 2 purses and a skirt from a vintage dress that I bought at a thrift store. Sadly I forgot to take pictures of the whole dress before I cut it in half!!!

The dress had a sheer skirt that went around the bottom half of it so that was already made. All I had to do was cut the actual dress in half and put some elastic in the waist.

Spring Fever!

Spring is finally here! The days are getting nicer, well most of them...We have had a few yucky ones including today. I hate yucky days because it just drains all my energy. It's like I suddenly have no desire to get out and do anything or let alone do anything around the house. I do love hearing the birds out though, rain or shine they are there. Their sweet chirps always make me smile. I bought a bicycle the other day! Woohoo! I am very happy with it. I took some time to really look around and find the right one because I really didn't want to spend money on a piece of junk. I am pretty certain that I found the right one. I rode it to my parents house the other day, 2.6 miles! I had no idea it was that far. Well, that isn't very far but it just didn't seem like they only lived 2 miles away. Compared to how far we lived before when we were in the apartment it's very close! Anyways it felt so great! The sun was out and it was in the 60's! I was able to wear a tank top and jeans, comfortably. Oh it was just wonderful. I haven't really gotten out to exercise in a while, hopefully I will be able to start a good biking routine.

Yesterday (Sunday) was a beautiful day. We went Lake Nockamixon with my brother and his wife. Sadly the sun wasn't out the whole time which made it a bit cold. I always have this mindset of when spring arrives it will suddenly be WARM outside. I wish that was the case. Here are a few pictures of out day.

I had today off work. It's always nice to have Mondays off. I got up with a rather productive attitude. After eating a bowl of raisin bran I decided to put away the (at least 4 baskets) of clean laundry sitting on our bedroom floor. Folding clothes is definitely not my favorite thing to do but it always feels great once it's finished and everything is put away neatly.

I went out to lunch with my brother Matt. We went to Chili's for burgers, Yum! : ) It was nice to get out of the house for a bit in the middle of the day. Mainly because I wanted to get away from unpacking. I have been lazy...there are a few more rooms to unpack but I am just not motivated to do it! I will, eventually. Hopefully this week because it's our turn to host the Black Sheep this Friday. That is our small group from church, It's basically our Bible study group.

I am thinking about becoming a CNA-certified nurses aid. There is a class starting up in the end of April and I am going to try to get into it. I have always wanted to be a nurse but school has never been my thing. I tend to give up on things faster than I can convince myself that I have barely given it a chance. I think that if I can make it through this 3 week class I could try it out for a while to see how I like it. Maybe then I will know if I want to continue to become a nurse.

Well, that's all for now.

Dinner is served!

I never thought the day would come when I would say, "I love to cook!" I never wanted to learn to cook, it never interested me. I guess for some stupid reason I never thought the day would come when I would have to cook. Hmmm... Well, I can honestly say now that I find so much joy in cooking a meal. It's very satisfying. Not only to the stomach but in putting a meal together.

Yesterday Jon and I had his parents and sister over for dinner. I decided to make corned beef and cabbage. Ah, yes! Thanks to the time of year. :)

It was almost 2:00 in the afternoon. I had two big packages of it in the fridge from buying it rather impulsively last weekend when Jon's mom let us know this was the time of year to buy it. I had never cooked corned beef before, I was a little nervous as to how it would turn out. After reading the instructions I called my mom and she stopped by in the afternoon to help me get started and give me a few other cooking tips, which were extremely helpful!

The afternoon rolled on and the wonderful aroma of the corned beef wondered through the house... I then sliced up a perfectly round sweet onion, quartered a head of cabbage and threw them in a pot together along with a bag of baby carrots. It looked so pretty! It was colorful and smelled delicious! That went into to oven next to the beef for the last hour and a half of cooking.

And oh the smell....

I enjoyed the whole afternoon of preparing this meal. It was so much fun and definitely rewarding when it came time to eat it!

This was before it was cooked...I never took a picture of the corned beef but believe me it looked, better yet tasted fabulous!

Tuesday

I had a day off from work today and I was very lazy. I'm not necessarily proud of this because I did have things I wanted to get done. Although sometimes it's nice to just do nothing.

It's wonderful having a house! I just love it. I think it's the cutest little house, perfect for Jon and I. Our cat (Othello) is getting used to it. It really didn't take him too long to adjust. He is really enjoying the space to run around in. We have some wood floors downstairs and it's really funny to watch him run around on them, he slips and slides around! Very cute.

So this evening Jon went to music practice at church and I am supposed to go to volleyball later but I can't decide if I will go or not. I'm just not in the mood for it but I know it would be good for me to get out and be active since I was lazy all day. Last week at volleyball I jammed my thumb when I went to set the ball, it hurt but only for a few days. It's fine now. I think I will go...maybe.

Hobbies

If I were to make a list of my hobbies it would go on and on forever because almost every day I have a different one. Although photography has always been one of my main hobbies. I love to take pictures! In fact I created this blog to use it as a website for my photos. As you can see all I have posted are pictures. I think it needs a little more than that. I have never been the kind of person to blog, I am not very good at writing. That is why I like to post pictures. I am going to give writing a chance but I want to mix it up with pictures as well. Maybe I will write about my pictures... We'll see if I can keep this up to date. You know how when you start something new for the first few days it's all you do?! Then the interest slowly dies... Okay, that could just be me. Honestly, I don't know how this will go.
